Maine Celtics News Release
PORTLAND, Maine - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, have teamed up with the YMCA of Southern Maine to hold a Jr. NBA Clinic this Thursday, Nov. 17 at their Portland branch. The event, which is free for kids ages 7-12, will take place from 4-5 p.m. and feature Red Claws players Asauhn Dixon-Tatum, J.J. Panoske, Joe Thomasson as well as Red Claws assistant coaches.
The clinic is part of "Jr. NBA Week" - an NBA league-wide initiative to promote the game of basketball to the future NBA players - America's youth.
"All children deserve the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive," said Helen Breña, CEO of the YMCA of Southern Maine. "We're thrilled to team up with the Red Claws because we know that the positive relationships, skills and values kids build through the YMCA and Jr. NBA lead to better health and educational outcomes. We want this for our community and are happy this program is open to all, regardless of their ability to pay."
The Jr. NBA clinic will take place in the gym at the Portland YMCA, 217 High St., Portland. Interviews will be granted upon request.
