Red Claws Team up with American Cancer Society

PORTLAND, Maine - February 1, 2017 - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, announced today that the team has partnered with the Maine chapter of the American Cancer Society to promote awareness and raise money to support the cause throughout the month of February.

This month, the Red Claws will be participating in Coaches vs. Cancer 3-Point Challenge. For every Red Claws three-pointer made in February, fans can make a donation to help fight cancer. Fans can sign up to make donations through this website: https://pledgeit.org/cvc-redclaws

Additionally, the Red Claws will join in American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer at their Feb. 9 home game vs. Northern Arizona, with proceeds from tickets and that night's 50/50 raffle going to the cause. A $5 donation will be made for all tickets purchased using the promotional code "PINK" on MaineRedClaws.com.

About the Maine Red Claws 2016-17 marks the eighth season for the Maine Red Claws. The Red Claws have been the minor league affiliate of the Boston Celtics since their inaugural season of 2009-10, and 2016-17 marks the fifth season of a"hybrid" affiliation between the two teams. Under the hybrid model, the Boston Celtics have contracted to run the basketball operations for the Maine Red Claws, including the hiring and training of the coaching and training staff as well as the all player transactions and will act as the Red Claws' sole NBA partner. The Red Claws play their home games at the Portland Expo Building. The franchise is owned and operated by Maine Basketball, LLC, which is principally owned by Bill Ryan Sr., the retired chairman of TD Bank, and Bill Ryan Jr. who serves as the team's chairman.
