Maine (7-2) got off to a fast start. Led by Mickey and Jones, the Red Claws went on a 7-0 run in the 1st quarter, taking a 29-23 lead. But Santa Cruz (2-7) also started well, and Damian Jones' lay-up at the end of the quarter made it a 32-28 Maine advantage after one. The 2nd quarter was controlled by Santa Cruz, which out-scored Maine 28-22. Jones continued to dominate offensively for the Claws, finishing with 20 points in the first half. Still, Scott Wood dropped in a three ball, and Jaleel Roberts' bucket made it a 58-54 lead for the Warriors at the break.
The Warriors took command of the game in the 3rd quarter, surging ahead to a 10-point advantage. Jason Calliste's three-pointer followed up by Mickey's bucket got it back to five, and Georges-Hunt's lay-in made it 78-75 Santa Cruz. Maine finished the 3rd on a 7-0 run, and it was just a three point game heading into the final period.
In the 4th quarter, Maine tied the game at the free throw line, then Arthur Edwards' corner three erased a 12-point deficit. The 13-0 run put Maine up 81-78. Jackson put in two straight buckets in the paint for the Red Claws, as the two teams went back and forth. Mickey forced two steals, setting up himself and Edwards for big slams, propelling Maine to a 89-84 lead. The Red Claws went on another 10-0 run to take an eleven point lead at 95-84. The Warriors tried to get back into the game, but Damion Lee's back-to-back three pointers helped put the game away.
