Peoria Pirates News Release

Peoria, IL - When the Peoria Pirates and Green Bay Blizzard play in Carver Arena, it seems to always come down to the last play. Peoria led almost the entire game until Green Bay scored with under a minute to play to take a two point lead. The Pirates then drove to inside the 10 yard line before attempting a field that would have given the Pirates a one point win. The snap was high and sailed past holder Luke Drone and kicker Shane Longest, allowing the Blizzard to escape with a win in another Blizzard/Pirates nail biter.

Luke Drone was excellent under center for the Pirates, completing 23 of 33 for 292 yards and 6 TD's. Green Bay was led by Gina Guidugli, who passed 263 yards on 19 of 30 passing with four TD's. Guidugli was picked off twice, once each by Josh Ferguson and Josh Harris of the Pirates.

Nate Forse was, indeed, a force for the Blizzard, catching all four of Guidugli's TD's and totaling 150 yards receiving on nine catches. Robert Garth also had seven catches for 75 yards for Green Bay. Dante Ridgeway led Peoria with 11 catches for 124 yards and 3 scores, Darren Paige had 103 yards on six catches with 1 TD, and Brian Allbrooks added five catches for 61 yards, two of which were TD's.

Defensively, the Pirates were led by Josh Ferguson who was in on 9 tackles (7 solo) and Josh Harris was in on another 9 (6 solo) to go along with their interceptions. Rusty Midlam was in on 8 tackles (4 solo) to lead Green Bay and Tracy Belton chipped in 5 solo tackles while being in on 7 total.

The Pirates have a bye week before returning to action against the Albany Firebirds on June 20 at Carver Arena in the Peoria Civic Center.
