NWL vs. PBL All-Star Game Approved Through 2020

SPOKANE, WA - The Northwest League (NWL) and the Pioneer Baseball League (PBL) jointly announced the signing of an agreement with Minor League Baseball (MiLB) continuing the interleague All-Star Game through the 2020 season. PBL President, Jim McCurdy, and NWL President, Mike Ellis, signed the approval document prepared by Pat O'Conner, MiLB President and CEO, and Tim Bruswick, MiLB Vice President, Baseball and Business Operations.
The All-Star Game pits the top talent from the eight-team NWL against the best players from the eight-team PBL, with a total of 14 MLB franchises represented in the event. The NWL All-Star team features players from Boise, Eugene, Everett, Hillsboro, Salem-Keizer, Spokane, Tri-City and Vancouver. The PBL All-Stars are comprised of players from Billings, Grand Junction, Great Falls, Helena, Idaho Falls, Missoula, Ogden and Orem.
The inaugural NWL-PBL All-Star Game was hosted by the Spokane Indians at Avista Stadium in 2015, where a sellout crowd of 7,083 fans watched the NWL top the PBL, 6-5. Last year's event was hosted by the Ogden Raptors in Ogden, Utah, and saw Spokane's own Xavier Turner walk away with the game's MVP after finishing 3-for-3 with a home run.
"This is an exciting day for both leagues and our fans as we continue this great event through at least 2020," said Spokane Indians Senior Vice President, Otto Klein. "We were honored to host the first All-Star Game in 2015 and look forward to this year's event in Hillsboro."
The 2017 NWL-PBL All-Star Game will be hosted by the Hillsboro Hops of the NWL on August 1, 2017 at Ron Tonkin Field in Hillsboro, Oregon. The 2018 game will be hosted by the Grand Junction Rockies of the PBL at Suplizio Field in Grand Junction, Colorado.
