Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Tony Mitchell dropped 23 points in the fourth quarter alone to lead the Sioux Falls Skyforce (4-4) to a 121-116 victory over the Grand Rapids Drive (4-6) at the DeltaPlex Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Friday night.

The Skyforce trailed by eight points at the half, and weren't able to make up any ground in the third quarter, down 96-88 heading into the final period. That's when Mitchell (33 points and seven rebounds) decided to take over, scoring 17-straight points for Sioux Falls as the Skyforce took their first lead since the first quarter.

The starters handled the brunt of the scoring in the win for the Skyforce, as Miami HEAT two-way player Derrick Walton Jr. notched his second-straight double-double with 23 points, 10 assists and four rebounds. Rodney Pryor also double-doubled with 10 points and 10 rebounds in his first career start.

Landry Nnoko (19 points and 10 rebounds) and the guard tandem of Jamel Morris (21 points) and Detroit Pistons two-way player Dwight Buycks (17 points), paced the game offensively for the Drive in the loss.

Grand Rapids saw six players score in double figures on the night, including double-digit performances from Zeke Upshaw (15 points, 4-8 3FG) and Kenneth Smith (10 points and six assists) off the bench. Former Skyforce player, now Detroit Pistons two-way player Luis Montero notched 12 points and seven rebounds before fouling out in the second half for the Drive.

The Skyforce overcame yet another rough shooting performance from three-point range, missing their first eight three-point attempts and making just 10-of-38 total attempts from beyond the arc in the game. The Skyforce shot 60.7 percent (34-56) inside the arc, and outscored the Drive 50-42 in the paint.

Miami HEAT assignee AJ Hammons matched a season-high with 14 points and six rebounds in the contest, while Miami HEAT two-way player Matt Williams Jr. tallied 14 points of his own, and has now made at least four three-point field goals in four of his last five games.

The Skyforce now return to Sioux Falls to take on the Erie BayHawks (4-5) on Monday, November 27 while the Grand Rapids Drive travel to the Toronto, Canada area to take on Raptors 905 (3-4) in the first of a two-game road trip.
