Texas Legends News Release

DALLAS - The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have signed rookie guard Pierre Jackson to a second 10-day contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Jackson (5-11, 176) has appeared in seven games for Dallas this season, averaging 3.1 points and 1.7 assists in 6.7 minutes per game. He recorded a career-high 10 points to go along with two rebounds, five assists and one steal in 18 minutes in the Mavericks' 122-73 win over the Lakers on Sunday (Jan. 22).

Jackson was originally signed by Dallas on Dec. 27, before being waived by the team on Jan. 6 after appearing in four games. He then signed his first 10-day contract with the club on Jan. 15.

Before and after his first stint with Dallas this season, Jackson appeared in 13 games (all starts) for the Mavericks' D-League affiliate, the Texas Legends. In those 13 contests, he averaged a league-high 29.6 points to go along with 4.2 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.8 steals in 37.4 minutes per game.

The 5-11 point guard holds career D-League averages of 26.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.7 steals and 37.2 minutes per game in 52 games (40 starts) with the Idaho Stampede and Legends. On Feb. 4, 2014, he set the D-League single-game scoring record with 58 points against the Legends (Jordan McRae later broke it with a 61-point game in January 2016 and Russ Smith topped that with 65-point night in March 2016). Jackson was named to the Futures All-Star roster for the 2014 NBA D-League All-Star Game.

Jackson was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2013 NBA Draft, but had his draft rights, along with Jrue Holiday, traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Nerlens Noel. On June 27, 2014, the Pelicans traded Jackson's rights back to Philadelphia in exchange for the draft rights to Russ Smith. In his first game for the 76ers' 2014 Orlando summer league team, Jackson suffered a ruptured right Achilles. He did not make his NBA regular-season debut until 2016-17 with Dallas.

A native of Las Vegas, Jackson played the final two years of his collegiate career at Baylor after transferring from College of Southern Idaho. While at Baylor (2011-13), Jackson averaged 16.7 points, 6.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 74 games while earning Second Team All-Big 12 twice and Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America in 2012.
