Marauders score early, beat Mets 8-2 Lugo gives up 7 runs over 3 innings in rehab start
BRADENTON, Fla. - The Bradenton Marauders jumped on rehabbing Seth Lugo early and defeated the St. Lucie Mets 8-2 at LECOM Park on Tuesday.
Lugo (elbow), who pitched behind Steven Matz in a rehab outing last week in Lakeland, got the start and did not fare well. He struck out the side in the first inning, but the Marauders pounced on him for four runs in the second and three runs in the third.
In the second, Mitchell Tolman hit a two-run double and Casey Hughston followed with a two-run homer.
Tolman launched a three-run homer to center field that appeared to be helped out by the wind in the third inning to put the Marauders up 7-0. Lugo was able to finish the frame.
Overall, Lugo gave up seven runs (six earned) on seven hits in three innings. He walked one and struck out four while throwing 62 pitches.
Meanwhile, Marauders starter Dario Agrazal cruised right along. He pitched seven innings and surrendered two runs. He improved to 4-1.
Arnaldo Berrios went 2 for 4. His RBI double in the sixth put the Mets on the board. Jhoan Urena also went 2 for 4. His triple brought home Berrios in the same inning.
Mets relievers Austin McGeorge, Alex Palsha and Craig Missigman pitched the final five innings. The trio combined for eight strikeouts. The only run the Marauders scored after Lugo left came on a solo home run by Logan Hill off of Palsha.
Tolman went 3 for 4 and recorded five RBIs.
The Mets (21-25) and Marauders (28-18) meet for an Education Day game at LECOM Park on Wednesday morning. First pitch is set for 10:30 a.m.
