Texas Legends News Release
DES MOINES, IA, (Dec. 5, 2016) - The Texas Legends (5-3) continued their road streak with a win over the Iowa Energy (2-8) Monday night in Des Moines. Texas led by as many as 26 in dominant fashion and held on to finish the game 120-102.
The two teams traded leads in the early minutes after Iowa grabbed the first basket, but the Legends took over midway through the first and never relinquished control. Texas shot 56% and pushed ahead 34-19 going into the second. The Legends' shooting went cold in the second but they found an answer to every Energy basket and maintained a 16-point advantage at the half.
Coming out of the locker room, both teams found their shot, but the attempts from Iowa proved futile as the Legends continued pushing further ahead. Manny Harris went 5-of-8 and a perfect 3-for-3 from outside to power out 16 third-quarter points as the Legends put a 26-point difference between them. Iowa seemed to rally early in the fourth with a 7-0 streak, but a balanced scoring strike from the Legends would hold off the home team's efforts.
Texas finished the night shooting 45% overall but sunk half of all outside balls with a season-high 15 falling from beyond the arc. Iowa beat the visitors on the boards 47-42, but Texas' 21 steals and 30 fast break points (to Iowa's 7 steals, 6 points) proved to be disastrous for the Energy.
Harris grabbed his fifth straight double-double of 31 points, 13 rebounds and led the team in steals (5) as they neared a league-record with 21 overall. Pierre Jackson finished with 19 points on 7-of-13 field goals and Quincy Acy tabbed 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
