Kasib Powell Rounds out Skyforce Coaching Staff

Sioux Falls, SD - The Miami HEAT and Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today the hiring of Kasib Powell as an Assistant Coach, joining fellow assistant Anthony Carter on Head Coach Nevada Smith's staff.

Powell, a former Skyforce standout, averaged 22.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists on his way to winning the NBA Development League's MVP award during the 2007-08 season. Powell became the first player in franchise history to win the league's highest honor. In March of that year, Powell was signed to a 10-day contract by the Miami HEAT, and eventually was signed for the remainder of the season. Powell played in a total of 11 games for the HEAT (four starts) and averaged 7.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 28 minutes per game.

In total, Powell appeared in 60 games (54 starts) for Skyforce and averaged 21.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists over a two-year span. Powell's efforts and impact on the Sioux Falls community resulted in his inaugural induction into the Skyforce Hall of Fame in April of 2016.
