Westchester Knicks News Release
WHITE PLAINS - The NBA Development League announced today that guard Jimmer Fredette and center Jordan Bachynski have been named to the 2015-16 All-NBA D-League Teams as voted on by the league's 19 head coaches. Fredette headlines the Second Team, while Bachynski is featured on both the Third Team and All-Defensive Team.
Fredette, 6-2, 195 pounds, was originally acquired by the Westchester Knicks in the 2015 NBA D-League Draft (first round, second overall). The Glens Falls, NY native became the second GATORADE Call-Up of the 2015-16 NBA Development League season when he was signed by the New Orleans Pelicans on Nov. 10, 2015. Fredette returned to Westchester after being waived by the Pelicans on Nov. 19, 2015. On Feb. 22, 2016, Fredette joined Langston Galloway (called up to the New York Knicks on Jan. 7, 2015) and Thanasis Antetokounmpo (called up to the New York Knicks on Jan. 29, 2016) as the third player in team history to sign with the New York Knicks. He appeared in two games for New York, scoring 7.0 points over five minutes, before returning to Westchester to finish out the season.
Appearing in 40 games for Westchester during the 2015-16 season, Fredette averaged 21.1 points, 5.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.8 steals over 35.8 minutes per game. He holds the 2015-16 Westchester Knicks scoring record with two 37-point performances, one of which came on the night of his NBA D-League debut, and finished the season ninth overall in the NBA D-League in scoring.
Bachynski, 7-2, 254 pounds, was originally acquired by the Westchester Knicks on Feb. 13, 2015. Appearing and starting in 49 games for Westchester this season, Bachynski averaged 13.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks over 27.2 minutes per game. Bachynski finished the 2015-16 NBA D-League season second overall in blocked shots.
Fredette and Bachynski became the first-ever all-star representatives from the Westchester Knicks in the 2016 NBA Development League All-Star Game. Fredette led the Eastern Conference to a 128-124 victory with a game-high 35 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. His 35 points became a new NBA D-League All-Star Game record, and led to his designation as the MVP of the 2016 NBA Development League All-Star Game.
