Jerome Braziel Returns to Renegades

LUBBOCK, TX: December 18, 2007 - The Lubbock Renegades of the arenafootball2 (af2) are pleased to announce that Jerome Braziel has been assigned to the team for the 2008 season by the af2.

"Jerome is a returning player with CFL (Canadian Football League) experience," said Renegades Head Coach Rodney Blackshear. "He is the type of player that feeds off the experience at this level to fine tune his af2 skills and he was a player that had his skills develop throughout last season."

Braziel (bruh-zeel) is a 5'10 174-pound defensive back from Fort Worth, Texas that appeared in eight games with the Renegades last season. He finished the season ranked fifth on the team in tackles with 25.5 and fourth in solo stops with 21. The 27 year-old joined the Renegades after spending a pair of seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Braziel attended Texas Christian University (TCU) and was with the Horned Frogs from 2000 - 2004. He lettered during the 2003 and 2004 seasons and combined for 30 tackles and a pair of forced fumbles. The speedster also spent time on the TCU track team. He recorded the fourth fastest 100 time in 1999 while in high school at Fort Worth Dunbar with a time of 10.27. Braziel qualified for the Pan Am Games and was part of the 1998 relay team that set a USA Track and Field High School record with a 36.69 time in the 4x100-relay.

The addition of Braziel, to the Renegades roster, gives them six players on the 2008 roster, joining Chad Jackson (WR/DB), Elliot Powell (DB), Ronald Redmond (OL/DL), Moqut Ruffins (OL/DL) and Corey White (DB). He is the third player returning with prior experience with the Renegades, joining Redmond and Ruffins. The Renegades are now preparing for the 2008 season and their second in the af2.
