
Fred VanVleet's Game-Winning Free Throws Lead Raptors 905 Past Bulls

Hoffman Estate- The Windy City Bulls (7-12), presented by BMO Harris Bank, the official NBA Development League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, dropped a back-and-forth affair 102-100 to the Raptors 905 on Saturday evening at the Sears Centre Arena. Raptors 905 improved 14-7 with the win.
Windy City received a team-high 22 points and eight rebounds from forward Alfonzo McKinnie. Aaron Thomas added 19 points, while Paul Zipser, on assignment from the Chicago Bulls, recorded 15 points, five assists and five rebounds.
Toronto Raptors assignment, and Rockford, Illinois native, Fred VanVleet paced Raptors 905 with a game-high 23 points and seven assists in front of a big Rockford contingency who turned out to Hoffman Estates. Axel Toupane added 21 points.
Bulls forward J.J. Avila scored six straight points early in the fourth quarter to put Windy City up 87-81 with 7:40 remaining in the fourth quarter before Raptors 905 mounted a comeback and retook the lead.
After trailing 99-95 with 1:12 remaining, a three pointer by Zipser knotted up the score at 100 with 10.9 seconds remaining, setting up the final possession for Raptors 905. VanVleet attacked the baseline and drew a foul with 1.3 seconds remaining, sending him to the free throw line where he connected on both attempts to seal the victory.
Windy City, who plays their next four contests away from the Sears Centre Arena, returns to action on Wednesday in Erie, PA for a 6 PM CST contest. The Bulls will return home on Friday, January 27 against Fort Wayne. For tickets and game information visit WindyCityBulls.com.
