Energy Lose in Final Seconds to Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne, Ind.- The Iowa Energy (2-6) lost in the waning seconds of Sunday afternoon's contest to the unbeaten Fort Wayne Mad Ants (5-0) 95-94.

Julyan Stone made a contested layup with 2.1 seconds remaining to give the Mad Ants the lead. After using a reset timeout to advance the ball just inside halfcourt, the Energy threw the ball away on the inbounds pass, unable to attempt a game-winning shot.

Wayne Selden Jr. continued his torrid pace on the offensive end, finishing with 21 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the field.

Matt Costello collected with his third double-double in as many games, recording 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Terry Whisnant (11), Kalin Lucas (10) and JaKarr Sampson (17) each tallied double-figures offensively. Sampson also shared a team-high, 11 rebounds with Costello.

Iowa outshot their opponent from the field for the second straight game, but came up on the wrong side of the scoreboard both nights.

Travis Leslie posted 21 points and and six rebounds in 31 minutes of action off the bench for Fort Wayne. Leslie shot 8-16 from the field.

All five starters scored in double-figures for the Mad Ants, including Trey McKinney-Jones double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The Energy return home next Saturday to take on the defending D-League Champion, Sioux Falls Skyforce, at 7:00 p.m. from Wells Fargo Arena. .
