Texas Legends News Release
HIDALGO, TX, - Justin Dentmon knocked down seven shots from outside to finish the night with 48 points, but his perimeter shooting was no match for Rio Grande Valley (9-3) who snaked past the Texas Legends (4-5) 130-126.
The game stayed close with eight lead changes and a single-digit margin in four quarters. The Vipers took the first lead but Texas quickly snatched it back with a three-pointer from Kyle Collinsworth. The home team responded with a 9-0 run and maintained control through the buzzer. Texas' Johnathan Motley was a force in the second, putting up 17 points and grabbing 3 boards to hold the advantage for most of the quarter. The Vipers knocked down four long balls in the final three minutes to even the score before a slam dunk from Danuel House would take the home team to the locker room up by two.
RGV's hot shooting continued after the break with three triples to open the third. The two continued neck-and-neck with the Vipers holding the lead at the two-minute mark. Texas was staring down an eight-point deficit with 47 seconds to play before Motley and Dentmon combined for two free throws, a steal, and an outside shot to pull within three in a 15-second span. RGV used the clock to their advantage and finished off the visitors to tally their ninth straight win.
