
D-Braves Alexander, Rowland Named July Players of the Month

DANVILLE, Va. - The Atlanta Braves announced their organizational players and pitchers of the month for July, with infielder CJ Alexander and pitcher Matt Rowland earning the honors for rookie-level Danville.
Alexander, 22, earned honors as player of the month for Danville. The Cape Coral, Florida product hit .379 in July (22-for-58) in 15 games with Danville. The left-handed hitter posted six extra-base hits, eight walks, 10 RBIs, a .449 on-base percentage and .534 slugging percentage. His only year at State College of Florida, Alexander hit .405 (83-for-205) with 15 homeruns and 64 runs driven in in 51 games.
Rowland, 20, was selected as the D-Braves pitcher of the month. In six starts over the course of July, Rowland posted a 1.69 ERA over 26.2 innings and struck out 22. The 2016 11th-round pick held batters to a .222 average while boasting a 1.240 WHIP. The high school product of Marietta, Georgia missed the past two seasons with injuries.
