Charge Tripped up in Sioux Falls

The Canton Charge (28-17), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, fell to the Sioux Falls Skyforce (36-8), 116-109, in the series finale between the two Central Division foes Saturday night in Sioux Falls.

The Skyforce opened the game taking an early 16 point advantage on a 22-6 run. Canton would never lead in the first half, despite closing the deficit to just one point at 41-40 at the 8:49 mark of the second quarter. Charge forward Nick Minnerath had an impressive first two quarters, scoring 25 points on 10-of-11 shooting in just 20 minutes of action.

The Charge opened the second half with the hot hand, connecting on 14-of-23 shots in the third period. The visitors took their first lead on a reverse dunk by Milwaukee Bucks' assignee Rashad Vaughn at the 11:15 mark, 62-61. Behind a strong quarter from center Juvonte Reddic, Canton would push its lead to as many as eight. A Nick Minnerath three pointer at the buzzer gave him 30 points through three quarters, and a 91-83 lead entering the fourth period.

Sioux Falls answered Canton's strong third quarter performance with a stellar performance in the fourth, fighting back to take the lead with a 7-0 run to start the period. The Skyforce outscored the Charge 33-18 in the final stanza, eventually winning 116-109.

Minnerath led Canton with 35 points on 14-of-17 shooting. Quinn Cook notched a double-double in his second game back from injury with 17 points and 10 assists in 34 minutes of action. Chris Crawford provided 14 points off the bench for the Wine and Gold.

Sioux Falls was paced by Bubu Palo's 34 points on 12-of-16 shooting. Jarnell Stokes added a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in 35 minutes of action. Rodney McGruder added 23 points. DeAndre Liggins scored just three points, but dished a game-high 13 assists in 44 minutes.

The Charge return home to host the Delaware 87ers (Philadelphia 76ers affiliate) on Wednesday, March 23rd at 8:00 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on ESPNU. The will conclude their home schedule on Friday, March 25th at the Canton Memorial Civic Center against the Grand Rapids Drive before finishing the regular season on a three game road trip.
