The Canton Charge (5-7), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, nabbed their first home victory of the season in a 120-113 win over the Delaware 87ers (3-11) at the Canton Memorial Civic Center on Friday night.
For the second time this week, Charge guard London Perrantes tied the franchise assists record of 16 to go along with his 13 points and two steals in 39 minutes and first double-double as a professional. John Holland netted 23 points with five rebounds and four steals in 35 minutes. Kendrick Perkins posted a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds in 30 minutes. Gerald Beverly came off the bench to provide Canton with 14 points, eight boards and three blocks in 19 minutes. Marcus Thornton (18 points), JaCorey Williams (16 points) and Akeem Springs (10 points) rounded out the seven Charge players who scored in double figures.
Delaware was paced by Christian Wood's double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds in 35 minutes. Philadelphia 76ers assignment Furkan Korkmaz had 18 points and two steals in 31 minutes. James Webb III provided 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals in 31 minutes of relief for the 87ers.
The game's difference came in the third quarter, where Canton outscored Delaware 33-19 and limited the visitors to just 4-of-18 shooting from the floor (22%). Trailing 63-60 coming out of halftime, the Charge rolled off a 13-2 run in the opening 3:09 and never looked back, never trailing the rest of the game. For the second time in as many games, the Charge as a team set a season-best mark for assists, this time with 27.
