CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve scored a pair of early runs and knocked off the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 2-0, on Tuesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field to back a strong pitching performance by J.T. Brubaker, Sean Keselica and Montana DuRapau.

Altoona (14-9) notched its second shutout out of the season against Richmond (9-13).

Brubaker (Win, 2-2) pitched a season-high 6 2/3 innings allowing six hits while striking out four. Keselica pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts and DuRapau (Save, 5) pitched a scoreless ninth inning to secure the win.

DuRapau is now tied for second on Altoona's all-time saves list with 27, matching Brandon Knight (2006).

The Curve started the scoring in the second inning. Edwin Espinal led off with a double, and later scored on an RBI groundout by Tomas Morales to give Altoona a 1-0 lead.

In the third inning, the Curve extended their lead to 2-0 after Jordan Luplow hit a two-out double to score Kevin Newman from first.

Richmond starter Matt Gage (Loss, 0-2) pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits. The Flying Squirrels bullpen combined for two scoreless innings.

Luplow has nine hits in his last five starts, raising his season average .269.

Altoona will conclude the homestand on Wednesday with the series finale against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Right-hander Tanner Anderson (1-1, 2.01) will get the start for the Curve, opposite of right-hander Jordan Johnson (1-1, 2.25) for the Flying Squirrels. First pitch is set for 10:30 a.m. at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Wednesday will be the first School Kids' Education Day of the season, presented by Subway. It will also be Winning Wednesday, presented by Pennsylvania Lottery, and fans have the chance to win prizes from the Pennsylvania Lottery, including free lottery tickets for a month. Plus, if the Curve win, fans can redeem their ticket at the Curve box office to receive a ticket of equal or lesser value to another Wednesday home game in 2017.
