Booker, White Lead Jam Past Vipers

HIDALGO, TX - Askia Booker and Terrico White combined for 62 points in a 119-115 Bakersfield Jam (22-25) road win over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (26-21). Booker came off the bench and posted a season-high 31 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists, while White also scored 31 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Xavier Silas got the Jam going in the first quarter, scoring 13 points (3/4 3FGs) and helping Bakersfield to a 29-24 lead after one quarter of play. Bakersfield led by as many as 11 points in the second quarter, but went into the half ahead by only two points (60-58).

In the third period, the Vipers took a 63-60 lead at the 10:08 mark, but Bakersfield quickly managed to regain the lead and ended the quarter with an 85-81 advantage. Both teams scored 34 points in the final frame, with Booker putting up 22 points in the quarter alone for the Jam. Rio Grande Valley got within two points in the final seconds of the game, but Bakersfield sealed the game by knocking down key free-throws.

Xavier Silas scored 22 points, including 5-of-9 from three-point land, while Cory Jefferson finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Kyle Casey had a team-high 10 rebounds.

Jarvis Threatt led the Vipers with 27 points and six rebounds off the bench. Montrezl Harrell, on assignment from the Houston Rockets, recorded a double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Jaron Johnson added 21 points.

Bakersfield will return home and take on the Austin Spurs on Tuesday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m. PT.
