
Barnese Hurls Six Shutout in 4th-Straight Win

MONTGOMERY, AL - Nick Barnese hurled six shutout frames and Stephen Vogt drove in three as the Biscuits (28-33) scored their fourth-straight victory, 5-2, over the Jacksonville Suns (32-29) Thursday at Riverwalk.
The Biscuits plated a first inning run for the fourth-straight game, starting the frame with three singles against Jacksonville starter Darin Downs and getting two runs on a Vogt single. They'd add two more in the fifth on singles from Beckham and Vogt, and one in the sixth on a Nevin Ashley homer.
Barnese (2-2) tied a season-high with five strikeouts, allowing only four hits over his six shutout innings. The Suns only runs came on a two-run homer from Ben Lasater against Jim Paduch, who struck out three in two innings. Zach Quate (8) came on to get the save for the Biscuits, allowing only a single.
Downs (1-5) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings.
Kyeong Kang went 2-4 and stole two bases. Beckham and Vogt both collected a pair of hits, and Ashley reached all four times, adding a single and two walks to his sixth inning homer.
In the last ten games, the Biscuits are now 5-0 when they score first, and 0-5 when they opponent gets the game's first run.
LHP Matt Moore will toss for the Biscuits Friday at 7:05 against Jacksonville RHP Omar Poveda.
