AUSTIN, Texas (Dec. 3, 2016) - The Austin Spurs (4-4) fell to the Salt Lake City Stars (2-8), 101-93, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Saturday evening.
On assignment from San Antonio, Dejounte Murray led Austin with a team-high 30 points (14-22 FG, 2-2 FT), 8 rebounds, and 7 assists in 39 minutes. Cory Jefferson recorded 18 points (6-9 FG, 4-4 FT) and 7 rebounds in 27 minutes, while San Antonio assignee Davis Bertans chipped in 10 points in 34 minutes.
After a close two quarters, the Spurs took a 50-49 lead at the half. The Stars led by as many as 8 points in the third, but Austin battled, closing out the third up 68-67. With back-and-forth lead changes in the fourth, the Stars began to pull away shooting .692 (9-13) from the field, while limiting Austin to .450 (9-20).
For the Stars, Henry Sims posted a double-double, finishing with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists in 32 minutes, while Tyrone Wallace registered 22 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assits in 28 minutes off the bench. The Stars had four players in double-figure scoring (JJ O'Brien - 14, Marcus Paige - 11).
