AUSTIN, Texas- The Austin Spurs (8-11), presented by SWBC, defeated the Iowa Energy (2-17), 117-110 at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Friday evening to finish off the year.
Cory Jefferson led Austin with his seventh double-double of the season, scoring 25 points, (9-17 FG, 4-6 FT, 3-5 3P) and grabbing 11 rebounds. San Antonio Spurs assignee Bryn Forbes matched Jefferson's 25 points (9-16 FG, 7-9 FT), along with 4 assists and 2 steals, while Patricio Garino contributed 17 points (6-9 FG, 3-4 FT, 2-4 3P).
Austin took an early lead finishing the first quarter 32-24, behind double-digit scoring from Jefferson (11). Iowa's team effort in the second quarter pulled them to within one at the half (56-55). The Spurs took an 11-point lead at the end of the third and held onto the lead for the remainder of the game. Austin shot .535 (38-71) from the field, and held Iowa to .447 (38-35).
Troy Williams paced the Iowa Energy with 24 points and 9 rebounds, while Wayne Selden chipped in 23 points and 4 rebounds.
