
Austin Falls in Overtime to RGV in Game One of Southwestern Division Playoffs

AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Spurs, presented by SWBC, fell in overtime 133-136 to the RGV Vipers in Game One of the 2016 NBA D-League Southwestern Division Playoffs Tuesday night at UT-RGV. Deshaun Thomas posted a new season best 35 points, to go along with five rebounds and four assists.
Six Spurs scored in double digits including Thomas (35), Keifer Sykes (22), Brandon Fields (17), Julian Washburn (13), Lamar Patterson from the Atlanta Hawks (11) and Demetri McCamey (10).
Will Cummings led RGV in scoring with 32 points, five assists and two rebounds.
Austin led RGV 72-66 at the half after shooting 67.5 percent to RGV's 47.7 percent. The competitive first half saw six ties and only one lead change. Thomas paced Austin with 15, while Fields contributed 13 off the bench.
Austin outscored RGV 32-21 in the third, but a strong finish from the Vipers in the fourth led by Will Cummings (10 points) and Jarvis Threatt (11 points) would force overtime and the eventual win for RGV.
