
ALLEN, WILLIAMS LEAD RED CLAWS OVER SWARM

Portland, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, rode Kadeem Allen and Devin Williams, and used lock-down defense in the second half to turn a deficit into a 110-100 victory Thursday night at the Portland Expo.
Allen, coming off a 46 point performance Tuesday night, scored 30 to go with 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Williams, coming off a 22 rebound performance, added 20 points and 21 boards. Josh Adeyeye added 17 points, while Daniel Dixon scored 12 in the win for Maine (15-15).
Greensboro (9-21) was led by Cat Barber with 23 points. Terry Henderson and L.G. Gill each scored 15 points for the Swarm, while Marcus Paige added 13 off the bench.
Dixon opened the scoring by draining a three on the first possession. Allen followed that up with a trey of his own. Adeyeye dropped in a pair of three's as well, giving Maine a 14-10 lead early. Dixon continued to shoot well for the Claws, and Allen buried a contested corner three. Cat Barber gave the Swarm the lead with a three-point play late in the quarter, but Drew Barham's put-back gave Maine a 32-31 lead after 1.
In the 2nd, Davis knocked in a three to put the Claws up 2. Vitto Brown, who joined the team earlier in the day after getting traded from Agua Caliente, scored his first bucket with the Claws. Sam Thompson's three-point play gave Greensboro a 40-37 lead. Barber extended the lead, continuing a strong first half. Greensboro led 59-55 at the break, shooting 52.6% in the first half. Barber led all scorers with 19 points at halftime, while Allen led Maine with 12 points.
The Red Claws and Swarm traded buckets early in the 3rd quarter. Williams continued to fill up the stat sheet, tipping home a missed shot, and then after a defensive rebound, slamming home a feed from Allen, tying the game at 61-61. Williams buried a three, as he and Adeyeye led the Claws on a 10-0 run to take a 73-63 lead. Greensboro would get back into it, cutting the lead to 2. Davis knocked in a deep three to stop the run. Maine out-scored Greensboro 31-19 in the 3rd, taking an 86-78 lead.
In the 4th, Barham buried back-to-back three's to extend the lead to 94-80. The Swarm cut into the lead, with Roscoe Smith getting it to 7 on a three-point play. Adeyeye hit a pair of crucial free throws to extend the lead back to 10, followed by Allen's steal and score. The Red Claws held Greensboro to just 41 points in the 2nd half, shooting 47.2% for the game (42-89) and 34.2% (13-38) from downtown. Greensboro shot 43.4% (36-83) for the game, and just 28.6% (6-21) from beyond the arc.
The Red Claws return to action on Sunday with a matinee game against Long Island.
