Brampton Beast News Release
BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John's IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, have announced that the club has agreed to terms with two-way standout and member of the 2015-16 squad, Scott Jacklin.
Jacklin, 26, hails from Kimberley, British Columbia and will be entering his second full season in the ECHL. Last season, he split his time between the Elmira Jackals and the Beast.
The 6'0" left winger started last season with the Jackals and played in 16 games with the club, picking up five goals and five assists as well as 12 penalty minutes.
He appeared in 30 games as a member of the Beast after being acquired from the Jackals on December 11, 2015. He scored three goals and added eight assists with the Beast and is looking forward to helping the Beast improve this season.
"I'm really excited to get the year going," Jacklin said. "We have a lot of our top end players are coming back and I think we will have a great season this year."
Prior to starting his professional career last season, Jacklin played Division I NCAA hockey with Robert Morris University between the 2011-12 and 2014-15 seasons.
In 143 college games played, the skilled two-way forward lit the lamp 48 times and chipped in with 59 assists for 107 points.
Beast Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Chaulk is excited to have a player like Jacklin back in the mix this season and believes that he can take a big step forward in the 2016-17 ECHL season.
"He's someone who's willing to go into areas that a lot of guys aren't willing to go," Chaulk said. "We're expecting more offense from him this season."
