Warriors Outlast the Legends

FRISCO, Tex. - The NBA D-League Champion Santa Cruz Warriors (6-4) defeated the Texas Legends (4-4) 115-106 on Friday night at Dr. Pepper Arena. The Warriors own the edge in the 2015-16 season series against the Legends, 2-1.

Elliot Williams paced the Warriors with 36 points and 5 rebounds. Darington Hobson recorded 24 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds, while Verdell Jones III added 23 points and 7 assists.

Justin Anderson, on assignment from the Dallas Mavericks, led the Legends with 34 points. Jeremy Evans, also on assignment from the Mavericks, recorded 17 points, while Murry and Holloway added 15 points apiece.

The first half would see a tightly-contested battle for the edge complete with 8 lead changes and 9 ties. Santa Cruz's Elliot Williams and Texas's Justin Anderson would battle head to head on the offensive end, with Williams notching 20 first-half points, as Anderson had 21.

Texas would have a hot-shooting third quarter (62%) to claim the five-point lead heading into the final frame. Santa Cruz began the fourth quarter on a 12-2 run and showed no signs of slowing down behind surges from Elliot Williams and Verdell Jones III. Williams recorded 12 fourth quarter points as Jones had 10 points to lead the team to a road victory.
