Grand Rapids Drive Win in Overtime to Hand the Iowa Energy Its First Loss

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Grand Rapids Drive forward Sam Thompson grabbed an offensive rebound and scored with 53 seconds left in overtime to hand the Iowa Energy their first loss of the season.

Kelsey Barlow had a double-double with a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds as Grand Rapids beat Iowa 106-104 in overtime on Saturday evening at the DeltaPlex Arena.

Lazeric Jones scored on a layup with 3.4 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 91-91 and send it into overtime.

Grand Rapids (2-3) had six players score in double figures, including Barlow (24), Devin Ebanks (19), Stefhon Hannah (15), Lorenzo Brown (12), Henry Sims (12) and Ryan Boatright (10). Ebanks also had 10 rebounds.

Andrew Harrison led Iowa (4-1) with 18 points. He was followed by Perry Jones III (16), Terry Whisnat (16), Lazeric Jones (15), Cartier Martin (13) and Joel Wright (10).

Hannah, a guard out of Missouri, scored 11 points in a span of 1 minuted and 17 seconds in the second quarter. He hit a 3-pointer to open the quarter, then stole the inbounds pass for a layup. He then drained back-to-back threes on Grand Rapids next two possessions to take a 27-26 lead with 9:44 to go in the second.

Grand Rapids led most of the game, including 54-46 at halftime.

Whisnat, a guard out of East Carolina, stole the ball and went in for an un-contested dunk as the Energy opened the fourth quarter with a 11-3 run to tie the game at 81-81.

Harrison made one of two from the free-throw line with 1:15 to go in overtime and tie the game at 104-104. But Grand Rapids scored on its next possession when Barlow missed on a 3-point attempt and Thompson grabbed the offensive rebound and put it back in for the eventual game-winner.

The Energy entered the game leading the NBA D-League ' s Central Division. Grand Rapids entered in fifth place, three games behind Iowa.

Iowa continues a three-game road trip on Dec. 3 at the Erie Bayhawks at 7 p.m. EST. Grand Rapids begins a three-game road trip of its own at the Westchester Knicks at 7 p.m. on Monday.
