Jackson Generals News Release

Jackson, Tenn. - Kyle Hunter's scoreless start was backed by key hits from Aderlin Rodriguez and Jabari Henry during a 4-0 Jackson Generals two-hit shutout to cap a doubleheader split Thursday versus the Biloxi Shuckers at The Ballpark at Jackson. Thursday's twin bill started with a 5-1 Biloxi triumph.

Hunter tossed a season-high four scoreless innings to open game two, facing just one batter over the minimum. He did not pitch enough innings to receive credit for a win, but his shutout start set up Andrew Kittredge to earn his second victory. Kittredge improved to 2-1 with a win over Biloxi's Josh Hader (1-2), who struck out a season-high-tying nine batters and gave up one unearned run over five innings.

Jackson (17-35, 46-74) capitalized on a passed ball to grab a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning of Thursday's nightcap. Marcus Littlewood led off with a strikeout but reached on a passed ball. On the very next pitch, Rodriguez doubled to score Littlewood from first base and put the Generals in front.

Henry cushioned the lead with a big blast in the bottom of the sixth. Tyler Bortnick drew a one-out walk ahead of a single from Mike Dowd. Henry followed and cleared the 24-foot-high wall in left field with his seventh home run of the season to give Jackson its winning margin of 4-0.

The Shuckers (26-26, 69-51) were held scoreless and ran into tough breaks on the bases early on. A single in the first inning from Nathan Orf led to a 9-2-6-2 double play that ended with Orlando Arcia thrown out at home plate. Biloxi also hit into twin killings that ended the second and sixth innings.

Biloxi earned a 5-1 game one victory over Jackson on the strength of a four-run fourth inning. Nathan Orf scored the tie-breaking run on an error for a 2-1 Shuckers lead. Later in the frame, an RBI single from Taylor Green, a sacrifice fly for Parker Berberet, and an RBI double by Brett Phillips stretched Biloxi's lead to 5-1.

Both teams traded early runs before the decisive fourth inning. The Shuckers scored first when Orf brought in Phillips on a first-inning sacrifice fly. The Generals answered in the third inning with single from Rodriguez that drove in Zach Shank.

Adrian Houser won the opener for Biloxi and pushed his record to 2-0 after allowing just one run in five innings. Jackson's Dylan Unsworth dropped to 2-6 in a loss, yielding three earned runs out of five total runs allowed over five innings of his own.

This five-game series continues Friday as Jackson hosts Biloxi at 7:05 p.m. CT at The Ballpark at Jackson. Generals southpaw James Gillheeney (4-4, 3.33) will face Shuckers right-hander Tyler Wagner (9-5, 2.33).
