Energy Win Big over 87ers

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Energy (24-20) won 117-98 over the Delaware 87ers (19-26) Monday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Energy were led by Damien Wilkins with 25 points, Marcus Hall with 16 points and Jarnell Stokes with a double-double of 25 points and 18 rebounds. Willie Reed recorded his tenth straight double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Energy recorded 54 rebounds as a team. DJ Seeley and Jamal Jones led the 87ers with 17 points each.

The Energy jumped out to a quick start opening up a 14-point lead mid-way through the first quarter. Larry Owens and Marcus Hall lead the team with seven points each in the quarter. Iowa led 33-23 at the end of the first. In the second quarter, the Energy extended their lead to 17 points to take control of the half. Memphis Grizzlies assignee Jarnell Stokes recorded a double-double in the first half with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The 87ers were lead by Gideon Gamble and DJ Seeley each with 11 points. The Energy lead at halftime 62-50 with 36 of their points scored in the paint.

Iowa started out the second half with a big dunk by Stokes to continue the momentum from the first half. Towards the end of the third quarter the Energy extended their lead to 22 points, their largest lead of the game. The Energy outscored the 87ers 26-16 to hold an 88-66 point lead heading into the fourth quarter. Iowa continued to control the game throughout the rest of the fourth quarter behind eight points from Damien Wilkins. The Energy would go on to win 117-98 and never trailed in the game.
