Charge Fall In Delaware Despite Paul's Big Day
February 24, 2015 - NBA G League (G League)
Cleveland Charge News Release
The Canton Charge (20-16), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, fell to the Delaware 87ers (16-19) at the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark on Tuesday afternoon. The loss halts Canton's road winning streak at five, while the win gives Delaware a 3-2 edge in the season series between the two teams.
Brandon Paul poured in a season-high 37 points on 14-of-21 shooting and 8-of-14 from three-point range, including 27 points in the second half, with nine rebounds in 40 minutes. His scoring performance was the highest of any Charge individual this season and second-most in franchise history to Manny Harris' 46 points on 2.16.12.
Canton took the lead five times in the second half, all by one point, but could never build on or hang on to their advantage. Delaware responded to regain the lead each time and used a 21-of-36 team shooting performance (58%) in the latter two quarters to earn the victory.
For Canton, Arinze Onuaku scored 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting with nine boards and four assists in 33 minutes. Stephen Holt scored 15 points with six boards, eight assists and four steals in 30 minutes. James Singleton added 14 points in 33 minutes for Canton.
D.J. Seeley led the Sevens with 17 points, 18 assists and three steals in 42 minutes. Jared Cunningham netted 21 points with seven assists and four steals in 40 minutes. Sean Kilpatrick scored a team-high 30 points on 10-of-16 shooting and 6-of-7 on three-pointers in 37 minutes. Delaware assisted on 31 of 40 field goals as a team.
