Grand Rapids Drive to Host First Annual Artist Showcase

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.- Feb. 24th - The Grand Rapids Drive has teamed up with Hylant Group to present the first annual Artist Showcase held at the DeltaPlex Arena on Mar. 17th. Event starts at 4 PM followed by the Grand Rapids Drive going head to head with the Maine Red Claws - tip-off at 7 PM.

This unique event will allow artists of all ages to display their art directly on the Grand Rapids Drive court before thousands of spectators. Art Prize and the Grand Rapids Art Museum will be providing judges to assist in the competition element of this event. The winner of each division will be announced during halftime of the Drive Game.

Artists must complete the registration form prior to submitting their work. This form is available on request by contacting Melissa Darusz at mdarusz@nbagrandrapids.com. The deadline to turn in art will be Friday, March 13th at the Grand Rapids Drive front office - located at 40 Monroe Center NW Suite 11,

Grand Rapids MI 49503.

Who : Individuals who qualify for the following division requirements:

- K-5th

- 6th-8th

- 9th-12th

- University/ College

- Post-Graduate

What : Inaugural Grand Rapids Drive Artist Showcase

Where : DeltaPlex Arena

Entry Fee: (2) $5 Tickets for the March 17th game

When : March 17th, 2015

Showcase 4-5 PM

Game Starts at 7 PM

Why : The philosophy is bringing together the creativity and artistic expression of the West Michigan community through the Grand Rapids Drive.

Prizes:

All division winners will receive an opportunity to have art displayed as cover for the Grand Rapids Drive Action Guides for the 2015-16 Season along with Grand Rapids Drive gear.

K-5th:

- $50 Gift Card to Michaels Arts and Craft Store

6th-8th:

- $100 Gift Card to Michaels Arts and Craft Store

9th-12th:

- $200 Cash Prize

College/ University:

- $400 Cash Prize

- Piece will be submitted into the Art Prize competition in Fall 2015 representing the Drive.

Post Graduate:

- $500 Cash Prize

- Piece will be submitted into the Art Prize competition in Fall 2015 representing the Drive.
