Texas Legends News Release

FRISCO, TX, (Feb. 4, 2015) - The Texas Legends gave up a 21-point lead to lose a heartbreaker at home 90-99 to the Canton Charge. The matchup was the first of the season for the two teams.

The Legends took control immediately, scoring 19 before Canton was able to get on the board. Just over a minute into the second quarter, Ivan Johnson tossed in a layup to increase the lead to 21, the largest of the night. With 2:30 to play, Brandon Paul knocked down a 25-footer to spark a 10-0 run by Canton cutting the deficit to six at halftime.

After trailing for 24 minutes, Canton put together a 22-17 third quarter behind eight points from Stephen Holt to grab a one-point lead going into the final minutes. The Legends shot 33.3% in the fourth and went 0-4 from beyond the arc to give up their final lead at the 9:22 mark and fall behind by as many as 14. Renaldo Balkman posted 12 of the team's 19 fourth quarter points, but the deficit proved to be too large as the Legends rounded out their second-lowest scoring game of the season.

Balkman came off the bench to add the Legends' only double-double of 20 points, 10 rebounds while Eric Griffin tied the team-high 20 points and added 4 blocked shots.

Arinze Onuaku led the Charge with their only double-double of 21 points, 12 rebounds.

Texas will return to action on their home court this Saturday against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at 7pm. The game will be broadcast live on television-KTXD47-and radio-KVCE1160am.
