
D-Fenders Fail to Hold off the Spurs

EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles D-Fenders fell to the Austin Spurs 121-106 tonight at the Toyota Sports Center.
Manny Harris scored a team-high 29 points for the D-Fenders (2-10), while also grabbing 11 rebounds and handing out five assists. Roscoe Smith followed suit with 26 points and 16 rebounds, his eight double-double of the season. Vander Blue (16 points, three rebounds, three assists), Jabari Brown (10 points) and Eloy Vargas (10 points, nine rebounds) joined Harris and Smith in double-figures.
JaMychal Green led the Spurs (6-3) with 29 points and 18 rebounds. Bryce Cotton tallied 26 points and dished out nine assists, while Josh Davis recorded a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Adreian Payne also finished in double-digits with 14 points and six rebounds.
Los Angeles finished the first quarter trailing by four, 28-24. Harris and Smith tallied six points and five rebounds each on the quarter, while Green led the Spurs with eight points. The second quarter was a rough one for the D-Fenders, who were outscored 39-25 and turned the ball over seven times in the quarter. Smith was the bright spot for L.A., tallying nine points and seven rebounds in the second. Green again led the Spurs with 12 points on the quarter.
The D-Fenders came storming back with a strong third quarter. Los Angeles outscored Austin 33-25 and entered the fourth trailing by 10, 92-82. Manny Harris turned it on in the third, with 12 points and four rebounds. Cotton had a strong fourth quarter for the Spurs, tallying 10 points and leading all scorers. Harris led the D-Fenders with seven points, but L.A. was outscored 29-24 and fell to the Spurs, 121-106.
Los Angeles shot .408 from the field, while Austin finished at .533. The Spurs tallied 35 assists compared to just 18 for the D-Fenders. Los Angeles finished with just one three-point field goal, while Austin recorded nine.
The D-Fenders are back in the Toyota Sports Center on Saturday, December 13th to host the Idaho Stampede at 6:30 p.m. PT.
