Sarnia Sting News Release

The Sarnia Sting are proud to announce that the Hockey Club has teamed up with the Inn of the Good Shepherd to bring you the 'Star Wars Fights Hunger' game on Saturday, November 15th. Sting players will take the ice for Saturday night's matchup against the Sudbury Wolves, dawning a Star Wars Specialty Jersey. These jerseys will be auctioned off following the game, with all proceeds being donated to the Inn of the Good Shepherd.

In addition to the Jersey Auction, fans can support the Inn of the Good Shepherd on Saturday night by bringing their non-perishables with them to the game. There will be bins located at each entrance for those who are generous enough to show their support.

Aside from specialty jerseys, fans can expect to see a number of Star Wars characters around the concourse on Saturday night. At the south-end of the building, fans will be able to get their photos taken with the crew from Star Wars after they complete their ceremonial puck drop duties.

The Inn's Executive Director, Myles Vanni speaks on behalf of the organization. "The Inn of the Good Shepherd is excited to be part of a very non-traditional event at the Sarnia Sting game on Saturday November 15th. Star Wars will be in town and at the game! The Sting and the Star Wars characters, along with Inn volunteers will be accepting non-perishable food donations at each entrance. The first 70 donations will receive a Star Wars chocolate gift! We are looking forward to a great game and food drive"

When asked about the 'outside the box' initiative, Sting VP of Sales & Marketing Brian Prout comments, "Over the summer we threw around a number of ideas for specialty jerseys this season, and this one just stuck. It's something that we encourage our fans to get excited about and participate in. We hope to see a large number of Sting fans dusting off their old Star Wars gear and wearing it on Saturday night." In regards to the partnership, Prout goes on to mention. "The cause we chose to partner up with is second to none in our community. Their immediate impact in Sarnia-Lambton is second to none, and as an organization we're thrilled to be able to work with them for this event. "

May the Force be with you!
