Calgary Stampeders News Release

Two of the top teams in the Canadian Football League go head to head Friday in Regina as the Calgary Stampeders face the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Kickoff at Mosaic Stadium is 8 p.m.

The Stamps lead the CFL with a 11-2 record while the Roughriders are tied with the Edmonton Eskimos for the second-best mark in the CFL at 9-4. This is the first meeting of the season between the Stamps and Riders, with the return engagement taking place at Calgary's McMahon Stadium on Oct. 24.

Calgary is coming off a 14-7 home victory over the BC Lions on Saturday while the Roughriders dropped a 24-0 decision on Friday in Edmonton.

The Stampeders hold an all-time 121-89-9 advantage against the Roughriders and they have a 50-55-4 record in games played in Regina.

Calgary leads the CFL with a 5-1 road record so far this season while Saskatchewan is 5-1 at home. The Stamps are 4-1 against West Division opponents while the Roughriders are 4-2 within the division.

Jon Cornish, who was just named the CFL's offensive and Canadian player of the month for September, will be looking to tie a team record he shares with Willie Burden by rushing for at least 100 yards in a fifth consecutive game. Despite playing just six of 13 games this season, Cornish is just 21 yards back of Montreal's Brandon Whitaker for the CFL rushing lead.
