Calgary Stampeders News Release

The Calgary Stampeders are proud to announce a new partnership with The Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta.

Kids Cancer Care is a registered charity that supports children and families during their family's cancer crises.

The Stampeders have previously worked with Kids Cancer Care, particularly with the foundation's PEER program, and this new partnership serves to formalize and strengthen that relationship. Stamps receiver Jabari Arthur will serve as the official team representative for Kids Cancer Care and has already made a pair of visits to the organization's Camp SunRise.

Kids Cancer Care is the team's official community partner for Monday's Labour Day to help kick off Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September.

To help bring attention to the cause, Arthur has enlisted his fellow teammates to wear gold laces in their street shoes for the entire month. Gold is the recognized colour of children's cancer agencies across North America representing the fight against children's cancer.

"I'm honoured to represent such a great organization such as Kids Cancer Care," said Arthur. "This is a fantastic cause and I'm happy to do my small part to bring awareness to Childhood Cancer Awareness Month."

The organization is near and dear to the heart of Stampeders president Gordon Norrie, who has participated for many years in Kids Cancer Care's annual Ride for a Cure fundraiser and later served on the sponsorship committee for the same event.

"I know from personal experience the importance of the work being done by The Kids Cancer Care Foundation," said Norrie. "I am excited by the partnership between the Stampeders and Kids Cancer Care and I know we will do great things together."
