THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia beat Hagerstown 6-1 Wednesday. JaCoby Jones set the tone with a home run in the first inning. The Power added a run in the third on a double by Michael Fransoso and a run in the fifth on a Jones single. The Suns got on the board in the bottom of the fifth, but West Virginia answered with a RBI single from Danny Collins in the sixth and closed the scoring with a bases loaded, two-base hit by Edwin Espinal in the seventh. Cody Dickson worked his fifth quality start of the season and earned his fifth win of the year while Hector Silvestre took the loss. Five different West Virginia batters had two hits each to help the Power split the first two games of this series.

NUMBER ONE WITH A BULLET: JaCoby Jones home run on Wednesday was his 15th of the season, placing the shortstop in a tie for tenth most in a single West Virginia Power season. Three players have hit sixteen in a season: Alen Hanson, Jose Osuna and Gregory Polanco in 2012. Only two players have hit 20 or more home runs in any season single Charleston-based teams joined the SAL in 1987 (Stephen Chapman (24) and Jason Parsons (20)).

ONE FOR THE ROAD: The Power and Suns meet in the rubber match of this series tonight. Wednesday's win snapped a six game slide against Hagerstown since the final West Virginia game of the 2013 season. The Suns lead the all-time series 70-59 and hold a 39-26 edge at Municipal Stadium against the Power during the regular season. The clubs do not meet in Hagerstown again this season, though the Suns return to Charleston in early August for three games.

STILL JONESING: JaCoby Jones' hitting streak has reached 17 straight games since June 20. The shortstop's streak is the third longest by a Power player this season and is the second longest current streak in the league, trailing only injured teammate Harold Ramirez (23 straight). The only longer current streaks across baseball are 19 by Boise's Jeffrey Baez and 18 games by former Power outfielder Robbie Grossman.

HEREDIA V. HAGERSTOWN: Luis Heredia has a career record of 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA against the Suns. The right-hander made one regular season start last summer (July 3) and worked one playoff game (September 7).

BORDEN HONORED: Right-hander Buddy Borden was named as the South Atlantic League's Pitcher-of-the-Week for his efforts from July 7 through 13. The starter went 2-0 with a spotless 0.00 ERA over two starts spanning 11 and two-thirds innings. It is the second straight week that a Power player has been honored by the league.

BELL TO BOOST CURVE? Media reports have suggested that the Pirates will promote Josh Bell to Altoona after the Eastern League All-Star break. The outfielder has appeared in 84 games for Bradenton this season and has hit .335 with nine home runs and 53 runs batted in. The 2013 SAL All-Star was a starter in the 2014 Florida State League All-Star Game as well.

Wrestler Mick Foley will be in attendance and the first 1,000 fans receive a beach towel commemorating the tenth season of West Virginia Power baseball at Appalachian Power Park.
