Hagerstown Suns News Release
About last game... The Hagerstown Suns (17-10, 61-36) were behind from start to finish on Wednesday evening, falling to the West Virginia Power (13-14, 33-62) by a final of 6-1. It is the first time West Virginia has gotten a win against the Suns this year.
The Power jumped ahead with one out in the top of the first inning thanks to a solo homerun off the bat of SS Jacoby Jones. It was his team-leading 15th long ball of the season, and the second homerun hit during the series by West Virginia.
In the third the lead increased to 2-0. Third baseman Chris Diaz led off the frame with a double to center field. Two batters later, RF Michael Fransoso doubled to right to drive Diaz in.
West Virginia had another one-run inning in the fifth thanks to an RBI infield single by Jones, making it 3-0.
Hagerstown scored its lone run in the bottom of the fifth. Designated hitter Drew Ward led off with a single to third, and advanced to second on a throwing error by Diaz. Third baseman John Wooten then doubled to left, bringing Ward home to make it 3-1.
West Virginia answered right back in the sixth with a run on a line drive single to left by DH Danny Collins. The Power then put the game away with two more runs in the seventh. A walk, a hit batsman, and a bunt single loaded the bases for West Virginia in the seventh with no one out. First Baseman Edwin Espinal then delivered with a two-run double to put the game to bed.
