Tulsa Defense Locks Down Texas

FRISCO, Texas, March 15, 2014 - The Tulsa 66ers won their fifth-straight road game by defeating the Texas Legends, 114-89, on Saturday night behind Dominic McGuire's 18 points and 20 rebounds.

McGuire, who was acquired by Tulsa on Wednesday, is the first 66er to record 20 or more rebounds in a game since Marcus Lewis in February 2012.

Reggie Williams, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, tallied 20 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Mario Little scored 19 points with four rebounds and seven assists and Rodney Bartholomew collected 15 points and eight boards. Ron Anderson added 18 points off the bench.

Tulsa shot 43-for-82 (52.4 percent) from the field with 28 assists while holding the Legends to 34.8 percent.

The 66ers (20-23) opened the night with a 19-7 run to take an early lead before outscoring the Legends 33-23 in the quarter. Texas (21-23) responded with a 28-23 advantage in the second to narrow Tulsa's lead to five heading into halftime.

The Tulsa defense locked down to start the second half, outscoring the Legends 37-14 and holding Texas to 6-for-26 (23.1 percent) shooting in the third quarter. Little scored 14 points in the frame as the 66ers shot 66.7 percent. Tulsa held on in the final quarter to improve to 5-0 on the road since returning from the All-Star break.

The 66ers scored 60 of their points in the paint and recorded 34 fast-break points.

Booker Woodfox led the Legends with 15 points off the bench and Damion James posted 13 points and 12 rebounds.
