HARRISBURG, Pa. Dec. 19, 2013 - Tom Mellor and Kenneth Fultz each scored two goals to lead the Harrisburg Heat over ReAL Harrisburg FC 9-3 tonight in an Open Cup match at Sports City.

Mellor scored both of his goals in the third quarter as the Heat turned a 4-2 halftime lead into a 6-3 advantage heading into the final quarter.

The Heat broke open the game late in the fourth quarter on three goals within a three-minute span by Fultz - his second goal of the night - Geoff Pezon and newly signed Ryan Rohrer.

The Heat's next Open Cup match comes Saturday against Detroit in a game that also doubles as a regularly scheduled Professional Arena Soccer League game. Kickoff is 7:05 p.m.

Matt Sourbeer had two goals for ReAL, which had a roster that included John Abe, a captain with the original Heat in the early 1990s, and a handful of former Harrisburg City Islanders.

Fultz also finished with an assist, while Heat captain David Schofield also had three points on a goal and two assists.

GAME NOTES: The Heat (2-3 in the PASL) signed former Northern High midfielder Danny DiPrima, 22, to a two-game, developmental/tryout contract.. After his days at Northern, the 5-10, 155-pound DiPrima played a season at St. John's University before transferring to North Carolina State for his final three seasons of eligibility. He played in tonight's game and is expected to play again against the New Jersey Dynamo next Friday at the Equine Arena. ... Sitting out for the Heat were forward Lester Felician and defender Craig Tyrrell. Felician, who is recovering from a fractured right hand, could only have played for ReAL after having been on its roster for an earlier Open Cup qualifying match before joining the Heat last month. Tyrrell missed the game to return home to St. Kitts in the West Indies. He is expected to rejoin the team in January. ...

Tyrrell's jersey No. 18 was worn tonight by DiPrima, who saw significant time in the second half.
