The Brampton Beast are less than a week away from kicking off their first-ever training camp, taking place October 7 - 17 at the Powerade Centre. Training camp invitees will hit the ice on Monday, in the hopes to join the Beast's inaugural Central Hockey League roster.
Grant Rollheiser, drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008, is a young goaltender from Chilliwack, B.C. He has played 4 seasons for the Boston University Terriers, winning an NCAA Championship in 2008-2009. Following the Terriers, Rollheiser played with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL and Wichita Thunder of the CHL.
Peter Di Salvo, the 6'0" Oakville native has had a long tenure net-minding in the OHL for the Sarnia Sting, Barrie Colts and Oshawa Generals. He then spent 2 seasons at Acadia University, where in his final year he recorded a 2.12 GAA and a .912 save percentage.
James Friedel will be another young addition to the Beast. The 22-year-old defenseman from Kamloops, B.C. played 2 seasons with the Salmon Arm SilverBacks of the BCHL before joining the University of Regina Cougars (CIS) last season. Coach DeSantis describes Friedel as an "eager player who eats, breathes, and sleeps hockey."
James Jarvis, the mobile defenseman from Pickering, ON, is looking to break into professional hockey after a 3-year career with Morrisville State College in NCAA D-III. Prior to Morrisville, Jarvis played for the Pickering Panthers (OPJHL) and Whitby Fury (OJHL).
Tyler Matheson, the physical 23-year-old from Victoria, B.C. will be showing off his versatility during tryouts as both a forward and defenseman.
