MISSOULA, MONT. - The Missoula Osprey's Opening Day is just hours away. Tickets are selling briskly - but are still available -- for the O's first homestand of the 2013 season.
The reigning Pioneer League champions host the North Division rival Helena Brewers on Opening Day tomorrow, Thursday, June 20, and conclude the quick two-game series on Friday, June 21. Fans are encouraged to get their tickets now at the MSO Hub Box Office at 140 North Higgins, online at MissoulaOsprey.com, or by phone at (406) 543-3300.
On Opening Day, festivities will begin well ahead of the first pitch. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the first 2,000 fans will receive a free Osprey magnet schedule, courtesy of Fiesta En Jalisco & The Corridor. The band High Voltage will perform a pre-game concert behind the press box from 6-7.
Pre-game ceremonies include the introduction of both teams' complete rosters and the official presentation of the O's 2012 championship banner. First pitch is slated for 7:05.
The second game of the homestand is set to end with a bang. After the game ends on Friday, June 21, the Osprey will present a fireworks display. (Please note that, due to the fireworks display, game time is moved up 30 minutes to 6:35 pm. Gates open at 5:30.) Friday's game is also "We Win, You Win" Night. If the O's beat the Brewers, all fans who stay for the entire game will earn a voucher good for one general admission ticket to any Osprey 2013 regular-season home game Sunday through Wednesday (not including July 3).
After Friday's game, and before the fireworks display, there will be the "Launch-A-Ball" contest. Fans can purchase numbered tennis balls for $1 each and will throw the balls at colored hula hoops placed on the field in a bid to win cash and prizes. A pair of reserved season tickets is given away during every "Launch-A-Ball" contest.
The Osprey will go on the road for a two-game series at Great Falls before coming back to Missoula for a two-game set against the Billings Mustangs starting on Monday, June 24.
