Suns Drop Game Four of Series to Biscuits, 5-2

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns could not rally from a 5-0 deficit against the Montgomery Biscuits and fell in game four of a five-game series at Bragan Field by a final score of 5-2.

Right-handed starter Sam Dyson escaped big trouble throughout his five innings of work but could not keep the Biscuits off the base paths, surrendering ten hits in taking his sixth loss of the year in front of 4,382 fans at Bragan Field.

"I thought [Dyson's start] was okay," Suns manager Andy Barkett said following the loss. "He's got really good stuff. He can out-stuff people. He wasn't great, but he gave us a chance."

Montgomery struck first in support of left-hander Enny Romero on Cameron Seitzer's two-out RBI single to put the Biscuits on top 1-0 in the first inning. Dyson was able to wriggle out of trouble in the second and third, but the Biscuits scored again in the fourth on Robby Price's RBI single.

Montgomery extended its lead in the fifth on Robi Estrada's run-scoring hit in the fifth inning that represented the final frame for Dyson, who allowed ten hits and struck out just one batter in his five innings on the mound.

Meanwhile, Romero hurled five scoreless innings for the Biscuits before giving way to the bullpen. Romero struck out five and walked three but worked out of trouble effectively in earning his sixth win of the season.

"I thought we put some decent at-bats together [against Romero]," Barkett said. "He had good stuff today. He had a lot of life on his fastball and kept our hitters off balance."

Trailing 5-0 into the bottom of the sixth, Jacksonville put together its only scoring rally of the afternoon. Mark Canha doubled to lead off the inning and scored on Zack Cox's RBI triple to right. Cox later scored on Danny Black's RBI groundout to cut the Biscuits' lead to 5-2.

It was as close as the Suns would get, however, and Cox was eventually removed after the game after experiencing calf tightness.

The loss evens the five-game series at two contests apiece. The Suns will send right-hander Robert Morey (2-3, 4.55) to the mound in the rubber match of the five-game series against Montgomery on Sunday, while Montgomery will counter with righty Jake Floethe (0-1, 8.00). First pitch if the afternoon series finale is set for 12:05 p.m. E.T.
