Indiana Fever News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Fever has announced that the contract for Jasmine Hassell, signed Friday as a replacement player for the Fever's opening game, has been terminated.

Hassell was the Fever's second-round draft pick (21st overall), but waived in training camp. Due to Indiana missing three players to injury and a fourth, rookie first-rounder Layshia Clarendon, attending college graduation, the Fever was granted the replacement player to enable nine active players.

With Clarendon having returned from California, the Fever roster remains at nine active players. Hassell saw two scoreless minutes of playing time in Friday's 79-64 win at San Antonio.

The Fever, honored earlier today as Grand Marshal of the 2013 IPL 500 Festival Parade through downtown Indianapolis, hosts the Atlanta Dream in its home opener next Friday, May 31. A Championship Celebration and Ring Ceremony presented by Herff Jones begins at 6:40 p.m,, and includes the raising of Indiana's WNBA championship banner. Every fan in attendance next Friday receives a replica championship ring.

A WNBA playoff participant in eight straight seasons and nine times since 2002, the Indiana Fever became the champion of women's professional basketball after defeating the Minnesota Lynx for the 2012 WNBA Championship. The Fever is the only team in WNBA history to record seven 20-win seasons during an 8-year span, a current streak that dates to 2005. During that time, the Fever has reached at least the Eastern Conference Finals five times while appearing in the WNBA Finals in 2009 and 2012. Indiana hosts its 2013 home opener on Friday, May 31 (7:00 p.m.) against the Atlanta Dream. For 2013 season ticket information, visit FeverBasketball.com or call (317) 917-2528.
