Seattle Reign FC News Release
Seattle, WA - May 24, 2013 - Hope Solo will be part of the Reign FC roster for the first time this season as the team prepares to play Portland Thorns FC in the second northwest derby of the NWSL season. The match is slated for 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 25 at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila, Wash.
Solo's return comes earlier than expected after her wrist surgery in March of this year. "We are pleased with Hope's recovery. Her experience, knowledge and ability have given the players a much-needed boost," said Reign FC Head Coach Laura Harvey. "We are mindful of Hope's continued road to full match fitness, but we are happy to be getting her in and around the team and on the field again."
Hope Solo will be available for selection in the starting 11 for tomorrow night's match.
Despite the availability of Solo, Reign FC will have some challenges with the defense for this weekend's game, with defenders Kate Deines and Elli Reed both out due to sprains to their right ankles, while defender Jenny Ruiz is serving a suspension for the red card she received last week against Sky Blue FC, the first in NWSL history.
Head Coach Laura Harvey and Reign FC (0-6-1, 1 point) look to get their first win against the first place Thorns FC (5-1-1, 16 points). They also look to build on their last match against Portland, as they battled to a close 1 - 2 loss on the road at Jeld-Wen Field. Midfielder Jess Fishlock got the goal for Seattle, her first of the year.
Reign FC will still be short two of their allocated U.S. Women's National team players as midfielder Megan Rapinoe, who yesterday played with Lyon in the Champions League final in London, and forward Amy Rodriguez, who is out for the season due to pregnancy, are both unavailable to play.
Portland Thorns FC currently features two players from the USWNT: Alex Morgan, and Rachel Buehler, as well as Canadian National Team players Christine Sinclair and Karina LeBlanc.
The match against Portland Thorns FC will be streamed live at www.ReignFC.com and will be available on-demand within 48 hours of the match by visiting the NWSL channel at www.YouTube.com/NWSL.
Reign FC will next play a friendly match against the Haitian National Team on Sunday, June 2 at 3 p.m at Starfire. Prices for single match tickets are $26 for Grandstand Premium seating, $22 for Grandstand seating and $19 for Bleacher seating. Tickets can be purchased online at www.reignfc.com.
