Zebulon, N.C. - The Carolina League named Mudcats starter Cody Anderson the Pitcher of the Week on Monday morning. The right-hander shined in two starts over the week of May 13-19.
The Quincy, Calif., native was 1-1 for the week, but held opponents to one earned run over 12.1 innings. He struck out 17 batters while walking only two. Anderson became the first Carolina League pitcher to five wins after shutting out Lynchburg over 6.1 innings in a 6-2 win on Sunday.
Selected in the 14th round of the 2011 draft by the Cleveland Indians, Anderson is 5-2 on the season. His 2.41 ERA is fourth best in the CL. His strikeout-to-walk ratio of 4:1 has been one of the best this year. He owned a streak of 26.1 innings pitched without a base on balls from April 27 to May 19, a span of four starts. Anderson's 52.1 innings pitched are the most in the CL. He has recorded a quality start in five of his nine starts, including three straight.
