A.J. Pierzynski to Rehab in Frisco on Sunday & Monday

FRISCO, TEXAS (MAY 18, 2013) - Texas Rangers catcher A.J. Pierzynski will begin a rehab assignment with the Frisco RoughRiders and is expected to play for the team on Sunday, May 19 and Monday, May 20 at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Pierzynski has been on the Rangers' 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique muscle since May 6.

Sunday's game starts at 4 p.m. and Monday's contest begins at 11 a.m. Both games are against the San Antonio Missions (San Diego Padres) and fans may purchase tickets for either game by visiting www.RidersBaseball.com, calling (972) 731-9200 or at the Dr Pepper Ballpark box office.

Pierzynski has not appeared in a game since May 5 against Boston and was placed on the disabled list shortly after initially attempting to play through the injury. In his first season with the Rangers, the catcher has played in 26 games and is batting .263 with four home runs, a triple, 11 RBI and nine runs scored. The two-time All-Star is in his 16th Major League season and signed a one-year contract with Texas this past off-season following an eight-year stint with the White Sox.

The RoughRiders continue their series with the San Antonio Missions tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
