Akron Aeros Homestand Highlights -- May 17-23

(AKRON, OHIO) May 16, 2013 - The Akron Aeros return to Canal Park for a seven-game homestand from May 17-23 on Friday against the first-place Erie SeaWolves at 7:05 p.m. That night will feature Mardi Gras-themed fireworks and a special appearance by the "Sauce Boss," the blues-playing, gumbo-slinging chef who is an annual fan favorite (www.sauceboss.com).

The Aeros also have two special "Charity Begins at Home" games with Sunday's game supporting The Oak Clinic for Multiple Sclerosis (www.oakclinic.com) and Monday's game supporting the "Strike Out Stroke" campaign (www.stroke.org). This homestand will have the first of two "Bark in the Park" nights, with the first scheduled for Tuesday, May 21 and the premium giveaway of the homestand will be the Goodyear Bobble Blimp on Saturday, May 18 to the first 1,000 fans.

- Special "Sauce Boss" appearance - The blues playing, gumbo-slinging chef will be passing out gumbo to fans after the game (First 150 fans)

Saturday, May 18th - Aeros vs. Erie SeaWolves - 6:05 p.m.

Celebrity Saturday/Goodyear Bobble Blimp Giveaway, presented by 97.5 WONE and 1590 WAKR

- Mystery Celebrity PA Announcer - Guess all 11 correctly and win a spot in the Aeros Mystery Celebrity PA Announcer Suite on Fan Appreciation Day (August 29th)

- Goodyear Bobble Blimp Giveaway (First 1,000 fans)

Sunday, May 19th - Aeros vs. Erie SeaWolves - 2:05 p.m.

"Argh! Talk Like a Pirate Day" & Sunday Family FUNday, presented by ESPN 850 WKNR

- Sunday Family FUNday activities include: Pre-game family catch on the field, Akron Children's Hospital Pre-Game Healthy Walk Around the Warning Track, Smith Dairy Postgame Kids Run the Bases, and player autographs

- Charity Begins at Home: Wear orange to show support for The Oak Clinic for Multiple Sclerosis! A silent auction will be held for game-worn player batting practice t-shirts

- "Argh! Talk Like a Pirate Day" is four months away

Monday, May 20th - Aeros vs. Bowie Baysox - 7:05 p.m.

"Oh, Halitosis! Your breath stinks!" - Tribute to National Garlic Day, presented by 91.3 The Summit

- Tribute to National Garlic Day with Thaxton's Garlic Farm

- Charity Begins at Home: Strike Out Stroke!

Tuesday, May 21st - Aeros vs. Bowie Baysox - 7:05 p.m.

Bark in the Park #1, presented by Wadsworth Veterinary Hospital and 94.9 WQMX

- Bark in the Park #1 - Fans can bring their dogs to the ballpark for free!

o Stupid dog tricks and "Which Dog Looks Most Like Their Owner" contest

o Water stations will be provided along the concourse

- Two for Tuesdays - Buy one reserved ticket, get one free (valid only at the Canal Park box office)

Wednesday, May 22nd - Aeros vs. Bowie Baysox- 7:05 p.m.

Ode to Oats, presented by 98.1 WKDD

- Celebrating Akron's Oat Heritage

o Build an oatmeal creature on the concourse & learn about the history of oats in Akron

Thursday, May 23rd - Akron vs. Bowie Baysox- 10:35 a.m.
