COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Thursday, May 16, 2013) - The Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club has announced the schedule for their 2013 summer camp series. The camps, which run from May-August, offer players ranging from Under-8 to U-18 skill and age specific instruction from Rapids Youth Soccer Club Coaches, with special appearances from Rapids players and staff. For more information or to register for camps, click here.
The Rapids Youth Soccer Club provides many different camp opportunities for youth players in the region. The Development and Skills camps are designed for the players of all skill levels, and place emphasis on individual instruction and development with the goal of shaping the all-around player to be ready for any position on the field.
The Striker and Goalkeeper camps are designed for the advanced player who wants to further develop their attacking or goalkeeping skills. The Striker camp focuses on creating chances and finishing, and has in previous years been led by Rapids Technical Director and Gallery of Honor member Paul Bravo. The Goalkeeper camp will be led by Rapids Assistant Coach and Academy Goalkeeping Director Chris Sharpe, and mirrors the curriculum used to train professional 'keepers in stopping shots, intercepting crosses, and developing footwork, mobility, and distribution skills.
Elite Preseason camps are designed for those playing on a competitive team and have the desire to improve their performance in preparation for the 2013/14 season.
Players who attend a Rapids Youth Soccer Club Camp at Dick's Sporting Goods Park will receive a camp t-shirt, a ticket to a Colorado Rapids home game, and a private viewing of a Rapids training session followed by autograph opportunities.
